Injections – head and neck
The stellate ganglion block is a common treatment where numbing medicine is injected into the bundles of nerves on either side of your voice box. It is effective at diagnosing and treating pain and problems in your head, neck, chest, and arms. A stellate ganglion block can effectively treat pain caused by:
- Nerve damage
- Shingles
- Low blood flow to the heart
A stellate ganglion block takes one to two hours, including time in the recovery area, after which you can return home. Patients are typically able to eat regularly and resume their usual daily activities within 24 hours after treatment.
Nerve blocks – head and neck
There are several bundles of nerves that respond well to specific anesthetics, and such nerve blocks can be used to effectively diagnose and treat acute and chronic pain in several areas:
- Face (including localized areas on your face, such as your forehead or eyes)
- Upper neck and shoulders
- Neck
- Back
Nerve blocks are rapid outpatient procedures with minimal discomfort, rapid results, and virtually no downtime.
